Heads and Tales
Charcoal and pastel on paper
13 1/4 x 16 1/4 inches
A symbolic carpet… a magical childhood memory… visually elaborated in black, white and many values in between. The location of the clouds keeps the eye moving across the composition with an accordion bounce. The rolling carpet and clouds mimic and harmonize with each other and are complemented with the softness of light, edges and gradations of the moon and stars. The position of the carpet brings up the question as to which direction is it traveling, away from or towards the viewer.
